Invisible Cities is a work for cello and transducer speakers, which Ragnhild Sannes commissioned for the first edition of the Strings Attached festival. The work deals with the imaginary and is a musical transcription of romanticized stories of cities never ventured by the composer. Some descriptions relate to real-world places, while others are imagined esthetics from the imagined cities of Italo Calvino’s book Invisible Cities. To me, they are all the same.
