Airsongs

for organetto portativo and string quartet

Airsongs is a work written for NeoQuartet during 2022-2024. The work explores a psychological and sociological approach to the term ‘Flautando’.

Flautando is a term used by string musicians, representing a sound ideal rather than a specific technique. This concept involves the musician’s instrumental skills and musical intuition to create a «flute-like» sound with string instruments. Despite the differences from actual flutes, the process yields intriguing results. This is explored by referencing the «flutes» of an organetto portativo as a sound ideal.
